Perseval, Thomas: Tradition (2013)

This wine is made of 43 Pinot Noir, 40% Pinot Meunier and 17% Chardonnay from Charmery. No dosage. 50/50 cuve emaillé and barrique.

Yellow golden color with a rose golden hue and a lovely effervescence. The first nose has lovely pastry notes like applefritter, croissant with butter, raisins, oranges and almonds. After a short while in the glass it also shows bread crust, prunes, fenugreek, tomato passata and a more pronounced minerality. On the palate it shows a lot more fruit with apricot, mirabel, oranges and bloodoranges. There is a pleasant bitter touch of angostura bitters on the mid palate. The finish has a playful acidity of crunchy apples and redcurrants. . This is a well made entry level champagne, perfect as an aperitif. Don’t keep the bottle open too long because the beauty fades rather quickly.
