Colin: Enjoleuse 2007

Made of 100% Chardonnay from Vertus. Dosage of 7 grams. Light golden color with a refined effervescence and creamy mousse. On the nose you get first typical champagne yeastiness, acacia honey, bréslienne nuts and bread followed by mimosa, lilac flowers and sweet fruity notes of golden delicious apple, ripe apricot and candied grapefruit. The mouthfeel is soft but a little sticky. The palate shows maturity with stewed apricot, candied grapefruit, orange marmelade, apple-rhubarb lemonade and flower honey. On the mid-palate you get salted almonds. Medium finish with almonds, candied lemon and beurre noisette. Not tremendously complex but well made and quite delicious. A perfect companion for a picnic and the white cover on the bottles protects it from lightstruck.
