R.H. Coutier: Millésime 2011

Made of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. Dosage of 6 grams. Straw color with a very elegant effervescence and nice tears on the glass. The nose is complex, soft and very seductive and starts with brambleberry, raspberry, beeswax, pancake with Grand Marnier, tarte tatin with cinnamon, sultanas and panna cotta with complex mineral overtones of slate and an impression of flint. No green or herbal notes at all that I would expect from the vintage. After a short while in the glass it started to show leather.  The mouthfeel is soft and elegant but this wine has body and structure. On the palate you get  a wealth of fresh and dried red fruits, delicious red apples, amaretti biscuits and dried nori algues on the mid palate that gives it a lovely savoury (umami if you want) touch. The finish has such a fantastic acidity of redcurrant, crunchy apples and citrus together with breadcrust and elegant yeasts. Already very nice but it will even get better when you wait.
