Made of 100% Chardonnay from Le Mesnil sur Oger. Dosage 6.5 grams. Light golden with a hint of gray and an elegant effervescence. At first the nose was austere with lots of green notes of fern, tomato plant, Thaï basilicum and spiced notes of dried mushrooms, turmeric and old mimolette cheese. The fruit seemed muted. After a longer while the wine started to express tropical fruits like pineapple, physalis together with café noirs biscuits and a hint of oak. The mouthfeel is nervous and a bit agressive. It feels very young. On the palate you get pink grapefruit, pineapple and physalis with a core of grilled citrus and coffee but also the austere and green notes from the nose. The finish is quite long and has a sharp acidity of lime, yuzu along with a touch of cigar and toast. I will retaste this next year and see if it will show more balance.
