Made of 100% Pinot Noir from Avenay Val d’Or and Mutigny. No dosage. Amber gold color with fast rising small bubbles. Intense nose of smoked Lapsang Souchong tea, apple pie, graphite, prunes, dates, raisins on rhum, straw, roasted pecans and hazelnut. After swirling the glass it showed pata negra fat and juicy greengage plums. The mouthfeel is vinous and dry. On the palate you get plums, dried apples, raisins, medlar, heather honey and a hint of Oloroso sherry. On the mid palate you get bitter chocolate, chichory root and cloves. Very long finish with coffee beans, charred orange and a smokey minerality. This reminds me very much of great vintage champagnes from Eceuil. This NV Gabriel-Pagin is a great discovery. I’m a fan!
